Jets fans were provided with a bit more stability and assurance in the defense once the 4x Pro Bowler C.J. Mosley returned after sitting out for the entire 2020 season. In 2021 Mosley played 16 games for the Jets tallying 168 combined tackles, 103 solo tackles, and 2 sacks. He ranked fourth in the NFL in combined tackles. Mosley had a career season-high with 168 tackles, the most by a Jet since Jonathan Vilma in 2005 with 173 total tackles. Earning himself the Curtis Martin Team MVP award. He is the first linebacker to win this award since David Harris in 2010.

Mosley averaged 12.5 tackles for a loss/no gain, which is second behind Quincy Williams (16.0), who was a valued addition to the Jets defense. As well as 14 third or fourth down tackles that prevented conversions (Nyjets.com). Quincy Williams combined with Mosley now offers more depth at the linebacker position than fans could have ever hoped for. Mosley is a valued veteran on this Jets defense who you simply cannot replace.

CJ Mosley's best game this season came in a Week 4 matchup against the Tennessee Titans, in a game that was a coming-out party for many Jets players. Mosley along with Quincy Williams was attacking the defense all day, each tallying a sack against the well-equipped Titans offense. Mosley had 13 combined tackles, 10 solo tackles, along with a sack for the day. This was his third straight game with 10 or more tackles.

Having him back on the field last season helps create a larger mentorship role for the youngest team in the league. Look for the Jets to make a much-needed addition to the defense this upcoming draft and hopefully another young prodigy for Mosley to help mentor in this all-gas no breaks culture in New York. The Jets intend on making a big jump this upcoming 2022 season.
