Fantasy Matchups to Watch

Jets D/ST rank against opposing units (PPR):

Opposing Quarterbacks: 17th

Opposing RBs: 32nd

Opposing WRs: 7th

Opposing TEs: 24th

After a promising start, the Jets defense has struggled to contain opposing offenses. The unit has now allowed 54, 31, and 45 points in their last three games. The Bills run game has been non-existent outside of Josh Allen, but expect them to try to take advantage of a Jets defense that has allowed the 7th most yards on the ground this season.

Bills D/ST rank against opposing units (PPR):

Opposing QBs: 1st

Opposing RBs: 1st

Opposing WRs: 1st

Opposing TEs: 8th

The Jets offense has come to life with Mike White (and Josh Johnson for three quarters) taking control of the offense after Zach Wilson’s injury in Week 7, scoring 34 and 30 points against the Colts and Bengals in the past two weeks. The Bills defense is a different caliber of beast however so it should be expected that the Jets’ offense will have much more trouble putting points on the board.

Play of the Week (Bills): RB Devin Singletary

While Devin Singletary has struggled to produce a consistent fantasy output, partially due to him sharing a workload with Zack Moss, he has been the go-to receiving back of the two. Look for the Bills to get him the ball this week against a Jets unit that has struggled to contain backs in both the running and passing game. Consider Singletary to be a strong flex play or low-end RB2 in deeper formats.

Play of the Week (Jets): RB Michael Carter

To be honest, it’s hard for me to recommend any Jets offensive player this week despite their recent success. The Bills’ defense has just been that dominant. However, the Bills will be missing Pro Bowl linebacker, Tremaine Edmunds, this week so I believe there will be some opportunities for Michael Carter in both the run and pass game. I would be comfortable playing Carter as an RB2 with upside for more if the game gets out of hand quickly.

Notable Injuries

Bills

LB Tremaine Edmunds - Out (hamstring)

RB Zack Moss - Active (concussion)

Jets

WR Corey Davis - Questionable (hip)

QB Zach Wilson - Doubtful (knee)

T Chuma Edge - Doubtful (knee)

Keys to Victory

Bills:

Offense:

Take the pressure off of Josh Allen by establishing the run game to take advantage of a struggling Jets defensive front.

Defense

Take away the short passing game and force Mike White to throw outside of the numbers.

Jets:

Offense

Limit turnovers, establish the run game and sustain drives to keep the ball away from Josh Allen and the Bills offense.

Defense

Limit the explosive plays and get pressure on Josh Allen without letting him break contain and extend plays.

Score Prediction

The Jets offense has played better recently, but the Bills defense will be their toughest test of the season. I am skeptical of the Bills’ ability to blow this team out after last week’s fiasco against the Jaguars, but the Jets’ defense should provide the Bills’ offense with an opportunity to get back on track and rediscover their swagger.

Bills 30, Jets 20
