Cam Sutton Released by Detroit Following Arrest Warrant
The Detroit Lions released Cam Sutton on March 21, 2024. Sutton was a cornerback for the Lions on a three-year deal worth $33 million and $22 million guaranteed. An arrest warrant came out on March 20, 2024, and the Lions released him the following day.
Cam Sutton didn’t meet fans’ expectations in the 2023 season. This offseason Detroit looked to add more help to their secondary and give Sutton the support he needed. Sutton was Detroit’s number-one corner during the 2023 Season but would take a step back in his role with the addition of Carlton Davis. After the unfortunate news of Cam Sutton’s arrest warrant, the Lions released him and will look to add cornerback depth at some point in the 2024 Draft.
The arrest warrant for Cam Sutton is for domestic battery by strangulation. This is a third-degree felony punishable for up to five years. This warrant came out of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department in Florida. The Lion’s team president, Rod Wood, came out and spoke to the media stating that Cam Sutton was in the facility working with team officials and strength coaches the day his arrest warrant was made public. The Lion’s team was able to talk to Sutton the day he was in the facility and advised him to seek counsel and turn himself in. Cam Sutton left the building and was released later that day by Detroit. There has been no contact or whereabouts of Sutton up to this point.
