Joe Mixon Being Sued for Shooting Back in March
Cincinnati, Ohio (PSF) - Bengals running back Joe Mixon has been in the news a few times recently, the most recent is Mixon restructuring his contract and taking a pay cut to help the team get a better deal for some players so they can still be able to compete in the NFL and still be Super Bowl contenders.
Mixon is facing a civil lawsuit over a shooting that happened back in March to his neighbor who was a teenager. At first Mixon was not sentenced but it is now believed that Mixon had a part in the shooting and that he supplied the bullets and possibly the gun used.
The Plaintiff suing Mixon stated that Mixon could’ve settled earlier but decided not to and not take responsibility for his actions that affected them a lot.
Mixon or anyone else that was in Mixon’s house could have believed that the teenager had a gun himself and feared for their lives. The plaintiff came out saying that the gun the teenage boy had was a toy nerf gun and they should be able to tell the difference if the gun is a toy. The teenager was playing with his friends, who also had nerf guns. Playing with nerf guns is a popular thing in Cincinnati. The gun the teens were playing with were blue, green, and grey.
Another person who was also involved in the shooting was charged an assault felony and other charges.
The victim’s family is suing Mixon for negligence and other damages as well. The family also moved away from the house next to Mixon and stated “because they did not feel safe” living near him.
Mixon had another incident back in January where he pointed his gun towards a woman in a road rage incident where he threatened to shoot her.
Mixon pleaded not-guilty to the charges and the Jury trial is planned to take place on August 14th.
