The New York Giants have been searching for the right coach ever since two-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Coughlin retired in 2015. Four head coaches later and only one winning season (in 2016) since then, it seems the Giants have found their guy.

Brian Daboll was the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills and was heavily credited with the superb development of Bills quarterback Josh Allen. When the Giants hired former Bills Assistant General Manager Joe Schoen to be their new GM, Daboll was quickly hired to lead his team.

Daboll knew from day one that he was inheriting a team that was depleted of talent, roster flexibility, and overall leadership. He embraced this challenge and tackled it head-on to make sure that the guys that made the final roster would be the 53 players he thought would best represent Giants football. Coach Daboll made sure to connect with each and every one of his players, and challenge the young, emerging players to step up and be leaders.

This Giants team came into the 2022 NFL season with little to no expectations by media and fans across the league. After a miserable first half on the road against a superior Titans team, it looked as if the Giants made absolutely no improvement from their abysmal 2021 season.

In the second half, the Giants came out firing and appeared to have a new life. A Daniel Jones passing touchdown with under two minutes to go would put the score at 20-19 with an extra point to tie it. Daboll decided to risk it and go for the go-ahead two point conversion, and star running back Saquon Barkley converted to put the Giants ahead by one.

A missed field goal by the Tennessee Titans as time expired led to Daboll’s first career victory in his first career game as head coach. After the miss, Daboll erupted into joy and embraced with many coaches and players, showing the respect he has already earned amongst the group. Seeing his attitude and will to win was a breath of fresh air for a Giants team that has not won more than six games since 2016.
