Breaking: Chicago Bears Trade Justin Fields
CHICAGO (PSF)— It’s the end of an era for the Chicago Bears. The team just traded quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a conditional 2025 sixth-round pick.
After a long offseason, where there were multiple rumors of Fields being traded to teams such as the Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders, and even the Minnesota Vikings, the team finally made the trade.
Per Adam Schefter, the trade sends Fields to the Steelers in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick that could become a fourth-round pick depending on how much Fields plays.
Per ESPN NFL staff writer Courtney Cronin, the pick can become a fourth-rounder if Fields plays more than 51% of the season’s snaps in Pittsburgh.
Fields now becomes the backup to recently signed QB Russell Wilson, depending on how Wilson plays next season, he could become a possible starting option in the near future.
In his last season in a Bears uniform, Fields threw for 2,562 yards, 16 passing touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also ran for 657 yards and four touchdowns on the year.
This now signals to the rest of the NFL that the Bears are going all in on one QB in the upcoming NFL Draft in April. The most likely candidate being University of Southern California QB Caleb Williams.
The Bears now have closed this chapter of the offseason and now can focus on searching for their next QB.
