Once again the Jets season has come to a close, without a playoff appearance for the last 12 years. There is some hope for the future of this team, as we saw a higher production in rookie quarterback Zach Wilson in the second half of the season once returning from injury. Since joining the Jets in 2019, Berrios had not had as big a role. Leading up to the 2021 season that changed, where the speedster from the University of Miami was finally able to show out. He had been steadily consistent with former Jets quarterback Sam Darnold whenever he got the chance. He was an unsung player who is finally getting recognized after having his best season thus far in his young career.

In just 16 games played Berrios hauled in 46 receptions for 431 yards, including two receiving touchdowns and two rushing. Not to mention being named first-team All-Pro as a kick returner, after being snubbed from the Pro Bowl. He managed to have an electric 102-yard kick return for a touchdown against the Jaguars in week 16. Berrios led the NFL in averaging 30.4 yards per kick return. He is the first player on the Jets to make All-Pro since safety Jamal Adams in 2019 and fellow kick returner Andre Roberts in 2018.

It has been great to see an unsung player such as Braxton Berrios flourish in a new system within the New York Jets offense and Mike LeFleur. There is a new energy in the Jets facility and many players believe that the organization is onto something. Especially if we can play our cards right this offseason. Braxton Berrios is going to be a big part of our offseason and will hopefully bring him back. Head Coach Robert Saleh has already confirmed that they want him here and began contract negotiations. Failing to re-sign Berrios would be a huge mistake after developing great chemistry with a young quarterback that can bring up both players' superstar potential. Before joining the Jets, Berrios was drafted in the sixth round of the draft by the New England Patriots in 2018. Where he was a part of the Super Bowl-winning roster. Needless to say, the young stud already has one milestone checked off his list. So who knows what his next decision will be.
