New York, NY (PSF) — On Wednesday morning, the finalists for the Associated Press NFL awards were revealed on NFL’s Good Morning Football. Some competitive races have been put together especially the MVP race, but for Giants fans it seems that in their minds there should be no argument on who the Head Coach of the Year award should go to.

Brain Daboll named as a finalist alongside four other Head Coaches who do make a strong argument on why they should receive the award. Sean McDermott for the Buffalo Bills, Nick Sirianni for the Eagles, Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers, and finally Doug Pederson with the Jaguars wrap up the finalists for the award. Tough competition for Daboll if he’s looking forward for the award, but even with the competition Giants fan or not Daboll should be favorite to win the award. Yes, two of the coaches named as finalists are going to coach games for the NFC Championship game, but neither coach has surpassed expectation as much as Brain Daboll and the Giants.

Fans, the media and around the league had little to no expectation for the Giants coming into the season. Daboll as a first year Head Coach was supposed to take over a weak roster and a quarterback that was on his last chance. Out of no where Daboll instant culture change had the Giants winning games and quarterback Daniel Jones looking the best that he ever had, cleaning up his turnover prone tendencies. All sides of the football look much improved compared to the dreadful years past of bad football. Winning close games and always having players in position to win would have Daboll finishing his first year with a 9-7-1 record. The Giants made the playoffs for the first time since 2016, and even won its first playoff game since 2012, against the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card round.

Brain Daboll did not only have a good year but changed the future plans for the New York Giants with his early success. Not picking up Daniel Jones fifth year option, the Giants wanted to see how Jones would be under Daboll. Jones would go on to have a transformation this season, the same that would happen in Buffalo when Daboll was the Offensive Coordinator for quarterback Josh Allen. Even with a decimated receiving core Daboll would still put in game plans that would have the Giants win games which goes to show that the New York Giants seem to have found their Head Coach for the future.
