Foxborugh, Massachusetts (PSF) — The former offensive coordinator for the Patriots Bill O’Brien is now changing his title to the new offensive coordinator for the Patriots. There were many rumors going on in the sports world who was going to be the offensive coordinator for New England going into the 2023 season. With the hiring, Bill O’Brien reunites with former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Mac Jones. O’Brien was one out of five candidates who were interviewed for the vacant coaching position.

O’Brien was a coaching assistant on the New England Patriots coaching staff from 2007-2011 as he left after Super Bowl XLVI to coach the Penn State Nittany Lions Football team. He then left Penn State after the 2013 season to become the Houston Texans head coach, where he held that position for seven seasons. O’Brien was hired by Alabama in 2020 to become their offensive coordinator where he helped the Crimson Tide win a National Championship.
