Baker Mayfield decoded Minnesota's defense in Week 1 comeback win
Orland, FL (PSF)- Buccaneers star Quarterback Baker Mayfield had an interesting weekend. The game almost turned instantly Sunday in Minneapolis and his teammates have given a reason for the shift this week. Running back Rachard White told some reports that Mayfield pulled off his best codes so his teammates could understand the Vikings defensive signals in real time and using it the Buccaneers achieve their victory on a game that seemed like a loss.
There is a number of explanations that are the reason for why Mayfield suddenly improved from a quarterback struggling to find targets beyond five yards amid defensive pressure. Mayfield is also really fast, which was also a great reason for why the Buccaneers have achieved victory against the Vikingβs. It took a while for the other players understand his signals, but they ended up getting and achieve the victory.
Another player that was also the key for the team victory was defensive coordinator Brian Floreβs, who was going to make sure that he helped Mayfield get as many points as they could. Flores did a great job in the game, he started to drop as many as eight defenders into his coverage on multiple snaps late in the first half.
Mayfield has shown his intelligence in this game. Not only figuring out the defense ways of the Minnesota Vikings, but he also knew how to be suttle for the whole team. This is a really great show of brains more than brawns, because even though Football is a sports know for their hard work in muscles, people keep forgetting that there is also a great amount of strategy and signal language to fully understand how to play.
