Jaguars Pull Away From Colts 31-21, A Jags Fan Analyzes The Game
INDIANAPOLIS (PSF) - The Jacksonville Jaguars came into this season with high expectations as the biggest favorites on most sportsbooks to run away with their division. Coming out of their first game, last year’s problems still show. The Jags started this game very slow and trailed heading into the 4th quarter. This was due to a fumble recovery after a weird play from Jaguars rookie running back Tank Bigsby who thought it was an incomplete pass. Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin then punched it out and Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner scooped it up and scored to give the Colts a 21-17 lead.
Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley was the big bright spot as he hauled in eight catches for 101 yards with a touchdown. He was on fire in his first game back from suspension most of his work was done in the first half having 92 yards at halftime. Wide receiver Zay Jones made a crazy catch in the endzone to put six more points on the board for Jacksonville. Running back Travis Etienne performed as advertised, running for 77 yards on 18 carries averaging 4.3 yards per carry. The offense seemed to click at some points and that allows for the Jags to build on this game with such a talented offense with great skill players all around.
The Colts proved to be up for the task as their defense proved tricky and Anthony Richardson, until the fourth quarter, had an impressive debut, when the Jags took over the game and ended up coming away with a 31-21 win over their division foe.
Up next for Jacksonville is the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs coming off a tough loss to the Lions 21-20. The Chiefs will be looking to get back on the right track after this loss, hopefully with a return from star tight end Travis Kelce.
