Kwon Alexander, New York Jets agree to one-year deal
Joe Douglas strikes again.
Yesterday, Kwon Alexander and the New York Jets agreed to a one-year deal, per ESPNโs Adam Schefter.
Alexander and the Jets reportedly had mutual interest over the past few months. However, the veteran linebacker chose to take his time with the decision.
Ultimately, Alexander, 27, chose the Jets, with his familiarity with Robert Salehโs defense (Alexander played under Saleh in San Francisco from 2019-20), the likely tipping point in the decision-making process.
Despite a lengthy injury history, Alexander can excel in a role as a situational player. Alexander likely will slot next to incumbent starters C.J. Mosley and Quincy Williams. With the move, the Jets add experience to a linebacker room that lacked significant NFL experience past Williams and Mosley.
In 12 games with the Saints last season, Alexander had 50 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
