Vrabel Back In Foxborough?

A familiar name has paid the Patriots a visit to show off his skills before the draft - Tyler Vrabel.
As the 2022 NFL Draft approaches, New England is bringing in a number of draftees for workouts to showcase their talents. The tackle from Boston College was ready to showcase his art in front of Patriots scouts, but could he be a good fit?

Tyler’s father, Mike, is a Patriots legend and common name in New England. Vrabel played for the Patriots from 2001-2008, winning three Super Bowls with the team. Additionally, he was an all-pro and pro bowler in 2007. A highlight stat of his with the Patriots is his eight receptions, all of which were touchdowns, although he was usually on defense at the linebacker position. Vrabel earned himself a spot on the Patriots 50th Anniversary team, and rightfully so. His contributions to the team at the outside linebacker position included bringing intensity, leadership, and friendship to his teammates, as many have attested. Currently, Vrabel is the head coach of the Tennessee Titans, and is the reigning NFL Coach of the Year. It’s safe to say he hasn’t lost his competitive edge, and surely passes that onto his son, Tyler, who hopes to make a splash in the NFL.

Tyler Vrabel, looking to make a name for himself in the NFL, was a three year starter at Boston College. He is an offensive tackle, with much experience on both sides. Coming into college, Vrabel was a three-star recruit, and quickly shined as a starter during his freshman season. The 6’5 tackle showcased his physicality at Boston College’s pro day this year. Tyler Vrabel showed scouts that he is a very physical player who strikes hard at the line of scrimmage and uses all of his 315 pounds to his advantage. He can be very effective in the run game, but does lack in speed, which could hurt in certain schemes. However, his experience as a 3x All-ACC Honorable Mention still works to his advantage.

Could Vrabel be a fit to the Patriots? I think it is definitely a possibility, as the Patriots look to strengthen the depth at the offensive tackle position with Isaiah Wynn entering the final year of his rookie contract, as well as a backup role to Trent Brown, who has dealt with injuries in past seasons. The family ties of the Vrabel family to the Patriots obviously raise immediate headlines, but still is something to keep an eye on as the Patriots come closer and closer to the draft.
