A Bears Fan’s Reaction to Week 10 Bears-Panthers
The Bears win again. We now have as many wins as we did last year. The only question is, can we get more wins compared to the previous season? Or will we go 3-14 in two consecutive seasons? It is unclear. Anyway, you all are here for another reaction so here we go!
Offense
The offense, at least for the run game, was lead exclusively by running back D’Onta Foreman. He had 80 yards on 21 carries and scored one touchdown. He tore the mediocre Carolina Panthers run defense to shreds.
Meanwhile for the receiving game, it was quiet and sometimes ugly. There were some trick plays here and there but other than that not much. The leading receiver for the Bears was wide receiver D.J. Moore who had five catches for 58 yards. He was followed by tight end Cole Kmet who had five catches for 45 yards. Neither man scored a touchdown. The offense as a whole only got one score from Foreman.
The offensive line gave quarterback Tyson Bagent plenty of breathing room and didn’t allow a single sack on Bagent. The passing offense needs to improve for next week as it is likely QB Justin Fields will return to action.
Defense
The defense came to play for the Bears this past Thursday. The team as a whole held the Panthers offense scoreless for the entirety of the game. The only time the Panthers scored a touchdown was off of a punt return from WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette who had a a 79 yard punt return to the house. Afterwards, Panthers only scored field goals from kicker Eddie Pineiro.
The Bears defense also had three sacks on the day. The three contributors were defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, defensive tackle Justin Jones, and DE Rasheem Green. DE Montez Sweat also brought a ton of pressure on QB Bryce Young. He didn’t end up with a sack, but he likely will in the coming weeks.
The Bears next face off against a tough opponent in the Detroit Lions next Sunday in Week 11.
