5 Takeaways From Week 2

What’s going on guys, this is Jordan AKA Jpafootball. In this article I’ll be breaking down my five biggest takeaways from the Week 2 games.

#1: Taylor Heinicke / Taylor Heinicke seems like he’s on a mission to prove that his playoff performance against the Buccaneers was no fluke. He went off against the Giants for 336 yards and two touchdowns. Through almost ten quarters of play as Washington’s starter, he has looked like a very capable quarterback. The only question is can he stay healthy and continue to sustain a consistently solid level of play. The game against Buffalo will be a very real test for him.

#2: The Raiders / Through two weeks, the Raiders are 2-0, posting very notable wins against the Ravens and Steelers, two playoff-caliber teams. Derek Carr has played at a very high level, and the defense has made key stops late in games to secure victories. Can the Raiders sustain this level of success moving forward and be a legitimate contender in the AFC? That remains to be seen, but they play the Jacoby Brissett-led Dolphins this week, so I’m expecting them to improve to 3-0.

#3: Derrick Henry: Derrick Henry seems to be picking up right where he left off in 2020 as the rushing champion. He exploded against Seattle for 230+ total yards and THREE touchdowns. Derrick Henry is the heart and soul of that Titan’s offense and their success will live and die on his shoulders, regardless of who they have at QB and WR. With Tennessee’s defense looking very lackluster, the Titans will need to rely very heavily on that run game and win the time of posession to stay in games.

#4: The Packers: The Packers seemed to quickly shake off their 38-3 beatdown from the Saints, defeating the Lions 35-17 on MNF. The Lions attempted to copy the Saints game plan, but failed tremendously. Aaron Rodgers had all day to throw and took advantage, picking the Lions apart for four passing touchdowns, 3 of which came to Aaron Jones. With Aaron Rodgers and Davante AdMs doing their “last dance” I think it’s safe to say that the Packers are definitely still a big threat to come out of the NFC.

#5: The Cowboys: I know the Cowboys are 1-1, and easily could be 0-2, but that offense seems to be good enough to win 10+ games. The largest factor will be if that Dallas defense can at least play at a decent level so that it won’t have to be a shootout every single week for Dak Prescott. With Amari Cooper, Ceedee Lamb, Michael Gallup, Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard at his disposal, there’s absolutely no reason why Dak Prescott can’t put up MVP numbers this season.
