Eagles win the Carson Wentz trade
If it wasn’t clear before the season was over or after the Colts failed to make the playoffs after choking away the last game of the season it is now. The Eagles have clearly won the Carson Wentz trade. The Colts traded Wentz to a division rival, the Washington Commanders, for two third round picks, compared to the Eagles receiving a 2022 first and 2021 third round pick.
As much as I loved Carson Wentz in an Eagles uniform and thought he was given a raw end of the deal here in Philadelphia, mostly during his last season here. In his last season here he had no protection or weapons to work with, but it is clear now that the Eagles and Howie Roseman made the right choice last off-season.
The reports coming out of Indianapolis are that even before the Colts choked away the playoffs they were already seemingly ready to move on from Wentz. The Colts did not like Carson Wentz’s lack of leadership and also the resistance to ‘hard coaching.’ Very similar to the ending here in Philadelphia. Props to the Eagles front office for not holding onto Carson Wentz for too long and cutting their losses on the number two overall pick and getting the most value the could while doing so.
Personally I wish Carson Wentz the best and still want to see him do well but it doesn’t seem like he wants that for himself as he doesn’t want to adapt to the NFL and change his personality. Here's to facing Wentz two times a year now and hopefully he doesn’t end up killing the Eagles in those games.
