Antonio Brown Once Again Goes After Tom Brady
Former wide receiver Antonio Brown is no stranger to controversy. He has attacked a multitude of players and analysts, even those outside of football. Brown’s public disputes have ranged from wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to media personality Logan Paul. His latest aim was toward his most recent teammate, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.
Brady had not been attending Buccaneers practices due to “personal reasons.”
“Tom Brady manipulate the game,” Brown tweeted on Aug. 17. “[He] gets 14 days [to] go home get his mind [right] lol. Now [you] see the difference. Put that s*** on.”
Brady has taken Brown under his wing twice, both occasions in the midst of drama surrounding the wide receiver. Brady even let Brown stay in his house during Tampa Bay’s Super Bowl season. Considering the history between the two, it was very shocking to see Brown attack his former quarterback—and friend—like this.
However, these actions by Brown are sadly nothing new, as he has continuously disparaged those he was close with.
Brown’s NFL career has been capitalized based on poor decision making and strong words. The veteran wide receiver has the statistics and accolades to be a Hall of Famer, but his actions have tainted consideration for such chances. Many argue that Brown was on-pace to be one of the greatest wide receivers of all time until his antics ultimately got the best of him.
The most recent example of his actions getting in the way was his mid-game outburst against the New York Jets in Week 17 last season. This ultimately led to Brown being removed from Tampa Bay. Had he stayed on the team, the Buccaneers may have been able to go on another Super Bowl run.
In the meantime, Brady has returned to practice, looking to win his eighth Super Bowl ring this season.
