49ers Squeak By Cowboys; Advance to NFC Championship
Santa Clara, CA (PSF)- To cap off the divisional round of the NFL playoffs, the San Francisco 49ers beat the Dallas Cowboys in a low-scoring, physical defensive battle with both teams arguably having the best defenses in the league.
Dak Prescott had two costly picks that ultimately won the game for the 49ers with the way the game was being played defensively. Both of Prescott’s picks occurred in the first half with the 49ers scoring a field goal off the turnovers.
Brock Purdy did not turn the ball over during the game, and managed to do what was needed to win. Tony Pollard left the game late in the first half with a high ankle sprain, and later found out he broke his left leg as well.
The Cowboys have now lost their seventh straight divisional game, making it 28 years and counting since their last appearance in the conference championship game. They will have some off-season decisions to make with Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott. There will be pieces that need retaining like Leighton Vander Esch, who had a career year for the team on an expiring contract, but has battled injuries throughout his career.
The 49ers will advance to the National Football Conference (NFC) championship and will play the Philadelphia Eagles in Philly at 2PM CST with a chance to go to the Super Bowl on the line. Can Brock Purdy lead the 49ers to the Super Bowl?
