3 Takeaways from the Bears 41-10 Loss to the Chiefs

In Week 3, the Chicago Bears faced the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. A matchup like this is difficult on a normal week, but in typical Bears fashion, they had a week from hell. Having their defensive coordinator resign and their quarterback call coaching out and then those comments back. Fans hoped these situations would fire up the Bears. But, that did not happen as the Bears got destroyed. After that terrible loss, here are the three biggest takeaways.

Jaquan Brisker can’t stay on the field

Safety Jaquan Brisker left the field yet again against the Chiefs with an injury. This marks the third game in a row where he has gotten hurt. Even though Brisker's injuries have yet to force him to miss significant time, that could change if he keeps getting injured. A significant injury would be detrimental to Brisker's development and force people to ask questions about his health. Neither of those situations would be positive for Brisker. That is why Brisker must stay on the field for four quarters in the next couple of games.

the defense Finally Forced a turnover!

The Bears’ defense finally forced a few turnovers against the Chiefs. Both of the turnovers were interceptions. One was by linebacker Jack Sanborn, and the other was by safety Quindell Johnson. Getting turnovers is normally a positive, but for the Bears, it was not. Since the interceptions were off of Chiefs backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert. Meaning the Chiefs pulled their starters and put in their second string. That is an embarrassment during a regular season game because it shows the whole NFL how inferior the Bears are. That is why these turnovers should not be celebrated.

Justin Fields Continues to struggle

Last Wednesday, Bears quarterback Justin Fields told the media, "It is time to play free at this point." That comment got fans hoping he would start playing like he was at the end of last season. Escaping the pocket and making big plays. Well, that was not the exact outcome against the Chiefs. Even though Fields escaped the pocket more, he did not make many plays. Fields finished the day 11 of 22 passing with 99 passing yards, a touchdown, and an interception. This is by far Fields worst statistical throwing performance of the season. But even worse, it was brutal to watch because Fields continued to turndown big shots and take sacks. Fields play on Sunday seems to counteract his claim of wanting to play free, as it still seems like he is thinking a whole lot in the pocket.

Fields also had a rough day on the ground, only gaining 47 yards on 11 attempts. While it is nice to see Fields rush more, the lack of success is not good. This means Fields is regressing in multiple areas, which is not good.

Next week, the Bears face the 0-3 Denver Broncos, a team that was trounced by the Miami Dolphins in Week 3, by a score of 70-20. The Bears will look to pick up their first victory of the season against the Broncos.
