3 possible destinations for Deebo Samuel after trade request

One of the craziest off-seasons in NFL history just got crazier.

Deebo Samuel, the all-pro Wide Receiver/Running Back for the San Francisco 49ers, has requested a trade. Last season, the 26-year-old wideout recorded 1,405 receiving yards and six touchdown receptions while leading the NFL with 18.2 yards-per-catch.

Being the multi-talented athlete he is, Samuel also ran for eight rushing touchdowns.

Therefore, it is safe to say that whichever team trades for Samuel needs to have enough picks and incentives for the 49ers even to consider the offer.

Here are my Top Three Destinations for Samuel.

The Kansas City Chiefs

To follow the insane narrative of this off-season, the Kansas City Chiefs look like the perfect landing spot for Samuel - for all parties.  The Chiefs, who traded Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins, are always looking to add more weapons for Patrick Mahomes – and Samuel, just like Hill, provides the cheetah-like speed and route-running ability that compliments Mahomes almost perfectly.

Although the 49ers ideally wouldn’t want to send their star receiver to a Super-Bowl contending team, the Chiefs have enough draft capital to convince them otherwise – and they are in the AFC. From the Miami Dolphins, the Chiefs have four picks in the first two rounds, including the 29th and 30th pick in the first round.

And finally, Samuel, in my opinion, wouldn’t mind being traded to the team with one of the greatest arm talents ever in Patrick Mahomes – not even to mention the offensive genius of Andy Reid.

The New Orleans Saints

The Saints are looking to add any help they can get for an injured Jameis Winston. Also, with the consistent injuries to Michael Thomas and the retirement of Drew Brees, the team could use some star power to at least fill up some seats – even if they don’t win too many games.

Despite the Saints being in the same conference as the 49ers, the two teams don’t have a strong enough rivalry – or the number of games played against each other – for the 49ers to care about sending Samuel to New Orleans. In addition, the Saints also have two top 20 picks (16th and 19th) that would sure look good for the 49ers’ future endeavors.

The Green Bay Packers

I know this is a long shot – especially with the lack of free agency moves by the Green Bay Packers – but Samuel would be the perfect for the cheese heads. After losing Devante Adams, the Packers need a number one wideout that will give Aaron Rodgers another shot at a Superbowl – if the team cares about winning, of course.

However, the 49ers would never make this trade.

Unlike the Saints, the 49ers are big-time rivals with the Packers and Aaron Rodgers. The Packers are a real threat to the 49ers in the NFC regardless of who is Rodgers’ partner in crime.

Yet, the Packers do have enough trading capital to make the 49ers rethink their plans. They have two first-round picks (No. 22 and No. 28 overall) and two second-round picks (No. 53 and 59)

So, although not impossible, this trade will take a lot of convincing, mixed with some luck and less stinginess from the Packers.
