After the successful turnout of the 2022-2023 NCAA Women’s tournament, fans can sense the excitement and anticipation for this upcoming season, hopeful to be even more intriguing than the last. As the new 2023-2024 season quickly approaches, there are many women’s teams that should be on every fan’s radar. These teams have all around talent, at every spot on the court, and will make it a fun season to watch. So, here is who to lookout for and put on your watch list with the season approaching fast…

Starting with the Louisiana State University Tigers, Head Coach Kim Mulkey has a loaded team coming back for the new season with the addition of some major transfer players. Returning players coming back from the NCAA tournament championship team last year include forward Angel Reese, guard Flau’jae Johnson, and forward Sa’Myah Smith. As a trio, these girls averaged 38.6 points per game and 25.3 rebounds per game. With new additions in guard Hailey Van Lith, formerly from University of Louisville, and forward Aneesah Morrow, formerly from DePaul University, this team is looking to be a powerhouse with an immense amount of all around talent.

Continuing with the other team from last year’s NCAA tournament final, the University of Iowa Hawkeyes are looking to produce another successful season this year. Even though the Hawkeyes have lost power forward and center Monica Czinano and forward McKenna Warnock, the rest of the team remains intact and returning to Iowa for the upcoming season. Led by superstar guard Caitlin Clark, who last season averaged 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds per game, and had a free throw average of 86 percent, the Hawkeyes are looking to push for another fantastic season.

As they have been for many seasons, the University of Connecticut Huskies will also be looking to push this season. Both Azzi Fudd, a 5’11” junior guard, and Paige Bueckers, a 6’0” red-shirt junior, should be back this season after facing major injuries in the last. This would give Uconn an exceptional advantage, as they have faced many individual injuries in the past years, causing some setbacks. With a healthy team, UConn will be one to watch.

These teams are just three of many looking to push this upcoming season all the way to a national championship. This year will be the year to watch any and all women’s basketball and will prove just how exhilarating the women’s game can be.
