College football Week 11 Recap

As we finished Week 11 of College Football play, let’s recap the top games of the week and how they affect the playoff push going forward

Alabama survives in Oxford

Alabama was trailing 10-0 early and was down 17-14 by the half. However, Bryce Young was huge in the come from behind effort. Young threw three touchdown passes, which included scoring on four consecutive possessions. Overall, the Tide went 4 for 4 in the red zone while securing 317 total yards on offense. The defense stepped in the fourth quarter to secure the victory, 30-24.

With this result, Ole Miss & Alabama lose any shot at making the SEC Championship

UCF takes sole possession of first place in the AAC

UCF went on the road and outlasted a tough Tulane team, 38-31. UCF drew up a tremendous run-heavy gameplan against the best rushing defense in their conference. Plumlee, who made his first start following a concussion, rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns. Bowser also scored twice, as he has scored in eight of the last ten games.

For Tulane, had a number of mistakes including many dropped passes, leading to their defeat. They were unable to break their losing streak against UCF, which has been running since 2015.

Undefeated TCU takes out Texas to remain perfect

What a game. TCU held star running back Bijan Robinson to 29 yards and the Texas offense to 199 yards. Kendre Miller rushed for 138 yards and had a 75 yard touchdown in the third quarter. As a team that was projected to finish in the bottom half of the Big 12, they are now #4 in the College Football Playoff Rankings.

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers was unable to get the passing game going, as TCU’s defense was disruptive all night. He was incredibly inaccurate, completing only 43% of his passes.

UNC wins a shootout, booking their ticket to Charlotte

UNC’s offense led the way in this game, and at large, has done the same all season. Heisman candidate Drake Maye was the player of the game as he had over 500 total yards on the ground and through the air. He also added four touchdowns. UNC went on to pull away at the end, 36-34.

Washington upsets Oregon, ending their playoff aspirations

Washington came into this game with a heavy dose of injuries. However, Petyon Henry was able to come up clutch, with a game saving 43 yard field goal with 51 seconds left. Washington would go on to win the shootout, 37-34.

As for Oregon, this means their playoff chances are virtually over. They will finish 7-1 in Pac 12 play and snap a school record of winning 17 straight conference games at home.
