SPOKANE, WASHINGTON (PSF) - Former Creighton guard Ryan Nembhard has transferred to Gonzaga, following the footsteps of his older brother Andrew. Nembhard, who was a pivotal part in Creighton’s run to the Elite 8 this year, is looking to do the same with Gonzaga in the 2023-2024 season.

Nembhard was a top-10 prospect in the transfer portal this year and for good reason. He was the Big East Freshman of the year in 2021. This season, he averaged just over 12 points, 4 rebounds and 4.8 assists while shooting 36 percent from behind the arch. Nembhard has also started every game in his two-year college career.

This season for Nembhard and Creighton was overall a successful one. Creighton went 24-13 overall with a 14-6 conference record. The Blue Jays were given a #6 seed by the Selection Sunday Committee and made it all the way to the Elite 8. Nembhard and company ended up losing in the Elite 8 to San Diego State on a controversial last second foul call by the referee.

Despite back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances and never missing a start at Creighton, Nembhard will follow suit of his brother Andrew and transfer to Gonzaga. Ryan’s brother Andrew averaged 10.5 points and 5.1 assists in his two years at Gonzaga while getting drafted 31st overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 2022 NBA Draft. Ryan will look to continue his college success in Spokane next season.
