LAS VEGAS, Nevada (PSF) - In the past two NCAA Tournaments, the Connecticut Huskies were eliminated in the first round. This year, the Huskies have absolutely dominated their competition on the way to the school’s sixth Final Four appearance.

Each of UConn’s four games in this season’s tournament were won by at least 15 points. Their win over the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the Elite Eight was especially lopsided, with a final score of 82-54

The game was close in the first half. A three at the buzzer from UConn freshman Alex Karaban gave the Huskies a seven point lead going into halftime. Early in the second half, Gonzaga star player Drew Timme picked up his third and fourth fouls. He had to sit for some time, but it might not have mattered much even if he was still playing, as UConn was too much offensively and defensively for Gonzaga.

The Huskies outscored Gonzaga 43-22 in the second half. As a four seed, UConn is actually the highest remaining seed left in the tournament. It’s the first time no one, two, or three seeds have made the Final Four. The dominant recent play of the Huskies will make them the favorites to win the Championship.

Jordan Hawkins led the scoring for UConn with 20 points, six three-pointers, and six rebounds. Adama Sanogo had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Andre Jackson Jr. had a near triple-double with eight points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists.

In the final game of the season for Gonzaga, it was an underwhelming offensive performance. Scoring was hard to come by, and just two players scored in double figures. Timme finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Julian Strawther added 11 points and six rebounds.

UConn will meet the Miami Hurricanes in the Final Four. The winner will play the winner of San Diego State and Florida Atlantic in the National Championship. UConn had a rough patch of losing midseason which dropped them to a four seed by season’s end, but there’s no doubt that the Huskies have a really great shot at winning their fifth National Title.
