TJ McCants Enters Transfer Portal

Ole Miss Athletics

Oxford, Mississippi (PSF) - It is unfortunate to hear that TJ McCants, the outfielder who played a crucial role in helping Ole Miss win its first national title last summer, has decided to enter the transfer portal. McCants expressed his gratitude towards Ole Miss coaching staff for the opportunity to play at the collegiate level in a competitive league and thanked his teammates for the memories they created together on and off the field.

During his freshman season in 2021, McCants made a significant impact both at the plate and in the outfield for Ole Miss. He was recognized as a Freshman All-American and played a key role in their victory over Oklahoma in the College World Series. McCants had a batting average of .236 with eight home runs, 31 RBI’s, and 42 hits. Despite transitioning from an infielder to the starting center fielder, he displayed strong defensive skills with just three errors credited to him.

Ole Miss faced a challenging season following their national title win, struggling with a 25-29 overall record and a 6-24 record in SEC games. McCants decision to enter the transfer portal indicates his desire for a fresh start elsewhere.
