Syracuse Defeats Wake Forest 94-72, Antet0kounmpo’s in attendance

Syracuse basketball’s season has been far from perfect and the team has massively underperformed. The Orange have not had a losing season in 51 years and prior to Saturday’s game against the Demon Deacons their record was 9-11. The Orange were projected by most to make the NCAA Tournament, but now realistically are out of the running. Wake Forest on the other hand has been one of the surprises of college basketball and were 17-4 entering yesterday’s matchup.

Right from the start, the game was back and forth and the two teams could not hold a lead. This went on for the whole first half and at the half Wake lead by three points. In the second half, the Orange came out firing from three point land thanks to senior guard Buddy Boeheim. Buddy Boeheim, son of head coach Jim, led all scorers with 30 points and shot an impressive 6-11 from downtown. Buddy is coming off a terrific March Madness tournament last season where he led the Orange to the sweet sixteen. After a slow start, Boeheim is starting to find his rhythm and the Orange have benefited from this.

It was also a big game for Villanova transfer Cole Swider. Swider shot 2-2 from downtown and 8-11 from the field and finished with 18 points. The Orange rely on Swider for his shooting abilities at his size and he is someone who the Orange need more production from.

This game was unlike most college games in Syracuse, NY as the Antetokounmpo brothers were in attendance. The crowd was into the game the whole time as a result and the Orange put on a good show for the two NBA stars. It is understood the duo were invited to the game by Adam Weitsman, who has brought many other famous guests to the Carrier Dome.

Syracuse travels to Raleigh to face the NC State Wolfpack on February 2, 2022. Tip off is at 9pm EST and the game will be broadcasted on ESPN2.
