Ohio State QB Situation Update

Colombus, Ohio (PSF) - Uncertainty remains in Columbus according to a recent report from ESPN regarding the starting quarterback position at Ohio State. The departure of CJ Stroud has left Ryan Day with a difficult decision in the coming weeks.
Originally, it was assumed that Kyle McCord would take over as the shot caller for the Buckeyes after backing up Stroud last season. However, Day has made it clear that sophomore Devin Brown is in contention for the spot.
McCord, entering his junior season, saw action in seven games last season completing 16 passes for 190 yards and one touchdown.
During Ohio State’s spring game, McCord made a strong argument for the starting job and showed off his ability to throw the deep ball. If he wins the starting job, he’ll be throwing balls to his former high school teammate and Heisman hopeful, Marvin Harrison Jr.
Brown, on the other hand, saw time in only one game last season with no pass attempts. Brown came to the Buckeyes as a four-star recruit and the fifth-ranked quarterback in the 2022 class. Unfortunately, Brown was sidelined for the Buckeyes’ spring game while rehabbing a finger injury.
Interestingly, Ohio State finds themselves in a two-quarterback situation, much like “the team up North” did last season. Regardless of who Ryan Day chooses to start in the season opener against Indiana, they will be throwing to one of the best receiving cores in the country.
