Markquis Nowell NBA Outlook

MANHATTAN, KS (PSF) - From Manhattan, New York to Manhattan, Kansas, Markquis Nowell has continued to play lights out at the point guard position. Nowell played for Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, New York, where he was the New York Daily News Brooklyn Player of the Year in 2018. Markquis was a dominant high school player among a crop of New York City phenoms that have made it to the NBA, such as Cole Anthony, Jose Alvarado, Rawle Alkins, Moses Brown and AJ Griffin. Rising to the top among such serious company gives a clue as to why his Kansas State Wildcats are currently ranked #11 in the country. Nowell dazzles on the court as he runs the point. His small 5’8” frame allows him to penetrate the paint with ease, always finding the best option as he has dished out 7.7 assists per game, third best in all of the NCAA.

The NBA has been trending towards smaller guards in the recent years, leaving Nowell in a good spot to join his former high school adversaries. A good showing in the Big 12 Tournament could place K-State as a #2 seed for the dance, thus bringing more NBA eyes to Markquis. If Nowell keeps up this pace throughout March, it would be hard to think he doesn’t get a look on draft day.
