The upcoming NCAA Women’s basketball season will be a competitive one. Team talent is at an all-time high this season and we will see some tough matchups. Moving forward though, four stand-out teams, in no specific order, will undoubtedly make it to the NCAA tournament Final Four…

  1. UConn Huskies:

Over the past few years the Huskies have seen an unfortunate amount of injuries, never having a 100% healthy team. But, as this season approaches quickly the Huskies are no doubt going to be a stand out team. If both Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd have a healthy season upon their returns, the UConn Huskies are looking at having an amazing backcourt. This phenomenal two guard front will be even more excellent when you throw forward Aaliyah Edwards who averaged 17 points and nine rebounds per game last season and UConn has a very strong three player front. Hopefully, as they continue into the season they will remain healthy. Undeniably as their health remains, they will be a number one tournament seed.

  2. University of Iowa Hawkeyes:

The Hawkeyes have almost a full team returning for the upcoming season. Losing Monika Czinano and McKenna Warnock, the Hawkeyes are expecting a full return with every other player. Caitlyn Clark obviously returning in the guard spot, hopeful to push herself and the Hawkeyes to another successful season and potentially a national championship this year. Kate Martin and Hannah Stuelke also looking to step up and create for the Hawkeyes this season. No doubt based on the last season championship, the Hawkeyes will be a number one seed in this years NCAA tournament.

  3. Louisiana State University Tigers:

The reigning champions from last season will undoubtedly continue to push to maintain their credit this season. LSU, led by Head Coach Kim Mulkey, will continue to be a powerhouse. Returning this season they have almost a full team, only one player transferring out. They are welcoming in guard Hailey Van Lith, formerly of the Univeristy of Louisville, and forward Aneesah Morrow, formerly of DePaul University. With the addition of these two transfer players, LSU takes a major push into the season. Still being led by guard Angel Reese, as a collective LSU is unstoppable. They continue to push, hold eahcother accountable, and remain a powerhouse at all ends of the floor. They will undeniably be a number one seed this season as they make a run to maintain their title.

  4. UCLA Bruins:

Despite the Bruins being very young this season, they are welcomed one of the best recruiting classes last year to their program. Looking to build on that with a season of experience behind them, the Bruins are a stand out for a number one seed in the tournament. Leading point scorer from last season Charisma Osborne decided to stay for one more year which was a huge bonus for UCLA. Last season she averaged 16 points and six rebounds per game, and had 102 assists on the season. With Osborne as their leader, this young team is looking to push, hopefully to a national championship.
