Omaha, Nebraska (PSF) - LSU defeats Wake Forest with the game going into the 11th inning and ended in a walk off victory for LSU, thanks to a two-run home run by their third baseman, Tommy White.

The game featured an impressive pitching duel between LSU’s Paul Skenes and Wake Forest’s Rhett Lowder, both of whom are considered top prospects in the upcoming MLB Draft. Skenes, known for his powerful pitching style and success against SEC competition, pitched eight shutout innings, allowing only two hits and a walk while striking out nine batters. He threw a total of 120 pitches, with 82 of them being strikes. Lowder, also a highly regarded prospect, matched Skenes with his own stellar performance, pitching seven innings and allowing three hits and two walks while striking out six. He threw 88 pitches, with 63 strikes.

In the top of the eighth inning, Wake Forest attempted a squeeze bunt to score the go-ahead run with the runners on the corners and one out. However, LSU’s first baseman, Tre Morgan, made an impressive charging play to prevent the run from scoring and keep the game tied.

Both LSU and Wake Forest have multiple players who could potentially be selected in the first round of the upcoming MLB Draft. Along with Skenes and Lowder, LSU outfielder Dylan Crews is considered a favorite to be the first overall pick. Wake Forest’s third baseman, Brock Wilken, is also expected to be a first-round selection. Additionally, LSU’s Tommy White, the hero of the game with his walk-off home run, is a potential first-round pick in the following year’s draft.
