Baton Rouge, Louisiana (PSF) - After a very successful 2022-2023 season, and winning a national championship, Louisiana State University continues to create a powerhouse in the field of women’s collegiate basketball. In the past year’s season, the Tigers went 34-2 overall in their schedule, 15-1 in conference play, and stayed 17-0 protecting their home court throughout the season.

LSU was a third seed in this past season’s tournament, being underrated on many individual brackets, but they continued to dominate and prove their status. They eventually went on to defeat number one seeded Virginia Tech in the Final Four, and beat the number two seeded University of Iowa to win the national championship.

The Tigers are riding an incredible high on such an excellent season, and it doesn’t stop with that national championship. Head Coach Kim Mulkey has recently picked up two major players from the transfer portal in guard Hailey Van Lith and forward Aneesah Morrow.

Van Lith completed her junior season at University of Louisville averaging 19.7 points, four and a half rebounds, three assists, and one and a half steals per game. She played and started in all 37 season games for the Cardinals and scored 20 or more points in each of the four NCAA Tournament games the team played in. At only 5’7”, she is very crafty in her game, giving her a lethal midrange. Van Lith recently graduated from the University of Louisville in three years and will transfer to LSU as a graduate student.

Morrow, a 6’1” forward, is transferring from DePaul University after completing her sophomore year. Throughout the season, she averaged 23.8 points and 13.0 rebounds per game, adding in an additional 102 total blocks. Morrow played and started in 33 games during the season, leading her former team to a 16-17 record and creating 53 double-doubles during her 66 games played at DePaul. She is a powerhouse in the post, looking to do the same at LSU.

Moving into the upcoming season, Coach Kim Mulkey and the rest of the LSU Tigers will no doubt be a team to watch, hopeful for a second championship ring.
