Last Four In to Last One Standing: Rebels win MCWS

The Ole Miss Rebels find themselves owners of the dogpile at Omaha, as they defeat the Oklahoma Sooners 4-2 in Game two. Late game heroics by Jake Gonzalez propelled the Rebels to victory, along with same wild pitch miscues and some controversial rulings late in the game.

The Rebels were consistently number one all year in the polls, yet found themselves grinding out the SEC schedule, going 14-16, where they eventually found themselves unranked and biting at the nails on selection day. Despite their backs against the wall, and skipper Mike Biancothe on the verge of losing his position, Rebels would go 18-4 in the tournament, one of the greatest postseason performances by a team.

This is the third year in a row where an SEC team won the title, and it is the second year in a row where the state of Mississippi claimed it as well. Mississippi State won it last year.

This is the first title for the Rebels after six trips to Omaha, the last being in 2014.
