Lawrence, Kansas (PSF) - The University of Kansas Jayhawks have recently added a new member to the team roster. Hunter Dickinson, a 7’1” center formerly at the University of Michigan, put his name into the transfer portal on March 31st, 2023. Dickinson had many schools in the transfer conversation, including Georgetown University, Villanova University, the University of Kentucky, and the University of Maryland. Ultimately, Dickinson chose to continue his basketball career at the University of Kansas.

Last season for the University of Michigan, Dickinson was the only player on the Michigan roster to start and play in all 34 games. He averaged 18.5 points per game, nine rebounds per game, and led Michigan with 14 double-doubles throughout the season.

With this impressive stat line, Dickinson’s addition to the Kansas Jayhawks has moved their ranking up in early preseason rankings. Many predict Kansas is a number one seed for the 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The addition of guard Kevin McCullar Jr. withdrawing from the NBA Draft and coming back to Kansas has also created a lot of buzz for the 2023-2024 season. Last year McCullar averaged 10.7 points per game, seven rebounds per game, and recorded seven double-doubles for the Jayhawks. Defensively, McCullar had 25 blocks and achieved a career-high of five steals in back-to-back games.
