FAMU Football Suspended
Tallahassee, Florida (PSF) - This unfortunate incident at Florida A&M University is a clear reminder of the importance of respecting the principles and values of institutions. The unauthorized filming of a rap video in the team's locker room by Real Boston Richey has led to the suspension of all football-related activities until further notice, as announced by the Rattlers coach, Willie Simmons.
Simmons has expressed that the language used in the explicit video doesn't align with the core values, principles, and beliefs of FAMU. His aspiration is for the team to learn from this incident, striving to be their best version and continue making Rattler Nation proud.
Florida A&M University is currently investigating how their football locker room was accessed for the filming of the video. The video, posted on YouTube, portrays Richey wearing a FAMU shirt and team helmets, with several FAMU players appearing in the background. This unauthorized use of FAMU apparel and logos contravenes licensing agreements.
Richey, who hails from Tallahassee, Florida, has had previous interactions with the FAMU football program. He performed at the team's homecoming game during the 2022 season.
The current situation could impact the start of FAMU's 2023 campaign against Jackson State on Sept. 3, depending on the length and outcome of the suspension. This upcoming season is set to be the sixth season with Simmons at the helm of the FAMU Rattlers.
