Big 12 Week 11 Picks

Oklahoma @ West Virginia (OU -8.0)

Both of these have good offenses but lack a defense. Dillion Gabriel versus JT Daniels should be a fun matchup of the quarterbacks. West Virginia does allow more points than they score, which is never a good thing. Oklahoma does score more than allowed but only by a small margin. This game will be close as neither will be able to separate themselves from the other, and Oklahoma is on the road so I will take the Mountaineers and the points.

Pick: West Virginia +8.0

Iowa St @ Oklahoma St (ISU -1.0)

The outlook for OSU’s quarterback situation seems to lean toward Garret Rangel getting the start this week. He played well last week, even though it was his first start in a challenging road environment. We will see if playing at home will help. Iowa St has a strong defense, but the offense only averages 22.7 points per game, and it is the opposite for Oklahoma State. OSU's offense can score points, averaging 36.6, but the defense gives up 31.8, and with a young QB, the team has struggled the past two weeks. I will take the Cowboys to get the win.

Pick: Oklahoma St +1.0

Kansas St @ Baylor (BAY -2.5)

This game is just about a Big 12 elimination game, mainly for Kansas St since they could have losses to Baylor and Texas, and both would be higher in the standings. If KSU pulls the upset, then the season's final game between Baylor and Texas could bring all three into a three-way tie. Baylor has turned around their season with three wins in a row, and with the sudden uncertainty for Kansas St at quarterback, I will take the home Bears to win and cover.

Pick: Baylor -2.5

Kansas @ Texas Tech (TT-3.5)

Kansas finally got the elusive sixth win of the season and are bowl eligible. The defense for both teams is incredibly close with the number of points they allow, 29.0 vs. 29.8. However, Kansas has the better offense and backup quarterback, so the Jayhawks will ride the wave and get a road win.

Pick: Kansas +3.5

TCU @ Texas (UT -7.0)

Even before we get to the game, there is so much to this game. TCU moved up to #4 in the latest CFP poll. This is also the first game that TCU will play against Texas, who hired Gary Patterson in the offseason after he was fired midseason in 2021. Patterson elevated TCU from a Conference USA team to the Big 12. Texas looks good in the first half but has struggled to put up points in the second half, whereas TCU is the exact opposite with so many second-half comebacks. Quentin Johnson is listed as questionable, which would be a significant gain or loss for TCU, depending on whether he plays. I will take the Horned Frogs to get the win.

 Pick: TCU +7.0
