Big 12 Post Week 4 Power Rankings

1.     Baylor (Previous: 3)

Baylor went on the road and got a big win over Iowa State. The Bears didn't get as much from their run game as they usually do, only getting 123 yards on the ground, but Blake Shapen made up for it by playing much better and was more of a playmaker in this game, passing for 238 yards and 3 touchdowns. The defense was solid, getting two interceptions and four sacks.

2.     Oklahoma State (Previous: 2)

They had a bye week and stayed on their current ranking, but this sets up a big-time matchup with number one in Waco.

3.     Oklahoma (Previous: 1)

The offense played well, scoring 34 points, and even though Dillon Gabriel missed some open receivers that would have scored, he was good. The defense allowed 275 yards on the ground and another 234 yards through the air. No sacks and no turnovers for the defense means the honeymoon for Venables is over. Can he make the necessary adjustments and respond in Fort Worth? He has too much experience, and I think he will fix the issues; not having to play Kansas State will be helpful as the Wildcats have been the bogey team for OU lately.

4.     Kansas (Previous: 8)

Kansas has been the surprise team for the Big 12 and the entire nation. I don't think anybody had them picked to be 4-0 at this point in the season, and with that record, they are on top of the conference standings. They have sustained the success after they started getting national attention by beating Duke and will welcome Iowa State this weekend. This should be another game that they can win. The offense will have to carry the load, but Jalon Daniels has put himself in line to be first-team All-Conference if he keeps his current playing level.

5.     Kansas State (Previous: 6)

The Wildcats got a big road win over Oklahoma, and just a week after, they only scored 10 points in a loss to Tulane at home. Adrian Martinez played the best game of his career, Deuce Vaughn was solid himself, and they were able to run away from the Sooners to get the win.

6.     Iowa State (Previous: 4)

Iowa State opened with a disappointing loss at home to Baylor. They were chasing the Bears all game long and couldn't close the gap. The Cyclones will now have to go to Lawrence and face a rising Kansas with a dynamic QB in Jalon Daniels. Can ISU's defense shut him down?  That will be the key to the game.

7.     TCU (Previous: 7)

TCU went to Dallas and won back the Iron Skillet from SMU. The offense was able to move the ball both passing and rushing the ball, and more importantly, Max Duggan was efficient in completing 22-29 passes for 278 yards and 3 touchdowns. The defense did allow SMU to move the ball and let the Mustangs get back in the game after TCU had built a 28-7 lead. Tanner Mordecai had 372 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, but SMU only had 104 yards on the ground. Oklahoma comes to Fort Worth for a morning kickoff.

8.     Texas Tech (Previous: 8)

Texas Tech took the lead with 0:21 left in the game after trailing for most of it but allowed Texas to drive and get in position for a game-tying FG that sent it to overtime. Tech's defense stepped up and caused a fumble on the Longhorn's possession. Tech made an FG win the game sending the two teams leaving for the SEC to the bottom of the conference standings.

9.     Texas (Previous: 5)

Texas will be disappointed after leading for most of the game against Texas Tech, only for them to take the lead with under 0:30 left in the game. Texas could respond and tie the game quickly, but it didn't last long as they fumbled on the first play of overtime, and Tech made a Fan wins the game. Texas will look to get a win vs. West Virginia at home before the Red River Rivalry game.

10.  West Virginia (Previous: 10)

The Mountaineers finally got a win against an FBS opponent, which was on the road against Virginia Tech. The offense was as high flying as the previous weeks, but they did enough, and the defense showed up, limiting the Hokies to 10 points and getting a Pick-six in the fourth quarter to seal the game. They now travel to Austin and will try to continue their momentum with two straight wins and the struggles of Texas.
