Back to back to back conference USA champs

University of North Texas Men’s Basketball won their third USA Men’s Conference Title against LA Tech February 26th, 2022.

UNT beat LA Tech 56-49 at the Super Pit in Denton, TX. There were 8,522 spectators which is the the fourth largest crowd in school history and highest attendance since 1980.

The Mean Green’s record is now 15-1 in conference play and they are on a 14 game winning streak. This season winning at home is now 12-2.

The leading scorer of the team was Sophomore Forward, Abou Ousmane. Ousmane played for 35 minutes with 13 points of four field goals and five free throws.

Mardrez McBride and Thomas Bell put up 10 points made.

There was less than four minutes remaining with the game tied at 49-49, Junior Guard, Tylor Perry shot 6 points worth of free throws and the only field goal made was a 3-pointer with 56 seconds left in the game.

After the game, Coach McCasland expressed, “It was a humbling moment to come out to the Super Pit being full, winning championships are a part of the journey and we are thankful for the people that came out.”

There are two games left in UNT’s regular season. They will then defend their title
