Alabama falls to Tennessee in knoxville along side the goalposts
The Tennessee Volunteers beat number three ranked Alabama last weekend ending their 16 year losing streak to the Crimson Tide. The Volunteers, in the game of the year so far, traded leads with Alabama before a last second field goal won it for Tennessee 52-49.
Tennessee’s quarterback Hendon Hooker led the charge for the Volunteers with 385 passing years and 5 touchdowns. He also threw his first interception of the year in this game. Junior WR Jalin Hyatt had the game of his career breaking the school record with 5 touchdowns. Hyatt went for 207 yards on only 6 catches averaging 34.5 yards per catch in this record breaking game for the junior out of Irmo, South Carolina. On the Alabama side, Bryce Young continues to impress throwing for 455 yards, 2 touchdowns, and no interceptions.

This game was electric and everything we wanted to see. The game had over 1,100 yards of offense with both teams averaging over 6.8 yards per play.
This win jumps Tennessee to number three in the AP poll putting them back in the top three for the first time since 2001. They received 15 first place votes, close behind the 17 first places votes that Ohio State received. Alabama swapped places with the Vols dropping them down to number six, making the Crimson Tide’s chances at a playoff spot extremely challenging.

After the win, Tennessee fans stormed the field in unhinged excitement. The mob of orange darted toward the goalposts and got to work. It did not take them long to remove them from their supports and prance the uprights through the stadium and out to the streets. One goal post ended up getting thrown into the river down the street from the stadium the other I heard ended up at a fraternity. As exciting as the removal of the goalposts were, they ended up being quite costly for the University. Tennessee was hit with a $100,000 fine from the SEC and the athletic department also admitted the cost for replacing the goalposts would be around $150,000. It might have been worth it after all with how exciting this Tennessee team is to watch. The Vol’s have one more big test ahead of them when they have to go to Athens to take on Georgia in November.
