Should The Knicks Get In The Mix For Zach LaVine?

Being a New York Knicks fan, I definitely would love to see a star come to the Garden. The Knicks desperately need a star, and now they are in a prime position to bring along someone great. Zack LaVine is a great player, and we have heard talks rise from the Knicks and Bulls about the Knicks possibly acquiring LaVine, but does he match this offense? And if so, what would the Knicks have to give up?
News circling about the Knicks' involvement with the Bulls on a trade for LaVine and the rising possibility that the Knicks want to trade for him scares me a little bit. I do not want RJ Barret involved in this trade. If the Knicks offer RJ in this trade, they automatically lose. Keeping Julius Randle over RJ would be a horrendous decision for this franchise. I'd rather see them trade Julius Randle for someone like DeMar DeRozan; that would put them in a better position.

Knicks Receive: Zach LaVine
Bulls receive: Evan Fournier, RJ Barret with 2 first round picks.
Any trade scenario with Rj Barret in it drives me away. I believe in the young core. I believe we can do something with them. Zach LaVine had also been very inconsistent in the past season, and adding him to this roster instead of RJ is not a move that would move the needle much. I’m personally not a fan of this trade, I think the Knicks can go in a better direction than this, and if this is the price for Zack LaVine I’m not going to take it.

Bulls receive: 4-5 first round picks, Quintin Grime, Evan Fournier, and Miles McBride
More of a fan of this trade, we are giving up some young core with some more picks. This is the ideal trade scenario for the Knicks, especially with LaVine’s last season.
If the Knicks want to continue to make their team strong, they need to trade away contracts that hurt them. Evan Fournier will be in a big trade because of his contract. He is also a really good three-point shooter that teams might need. Quintin Grimes is a young star, he has the potential to be a really good defensive three-and-D player. This past playoff has shown his ability to play great defense under pressure. Miles McBride is a good young prospect, but he got very little playing time in playoffs but made very good defensive plays and key shooting from outside. With the right amount of development and playtime, I don’t see why the Bulls wouldn’t resign Miles McBride and continue to develop him.
Final Thoughts
The Knicks are in a great position to get the next disgruntled superstar, and I really hope they just wait for someone like Joel Embiid to ask out. However, if that doesn’t happen which seems to be the problem with Philadelphia, the Knicks feel like they have a backup plan. I think the second trade could go through if they add 6 first-round picks, however, do the Knicks really want to give up that much? I wouldn’t think so and I think the trades presented can get the job done to bring LaVine to New York.
Does this mean I think LaVine should be in New York? I’m not too sure if his playstyle fits what the Knicks are looking for. LaVine has shown this season that he is a really inconsistent shooter. When he gets hot he can give you 40 points, but the next day he can only give you 12 on 7-25 shooting. LaVine has been a good player in his career, I just think that if the Knicks continue building the culture of what they have and bring in Donovan Mitchell from Cleveland, that would be something special to see in Madison Square Garden.
