The Toronto Raptors are coming off a disappointing season in which they failed to make the playoffs. On paper the Raptors had an extraordinarily talented team that could have competed for the 4 or 5 seed in the east. The Raptors did lose Fred Van Vleet this offseason, which is a tough blow for the franchise. They did, however, sign Dennis Schroeder for this upcoming season as well as will have one year improved on Scottie Barnes’ development. 

This upcoming season the east is very strong and there will be a lot of competition. Even after losing VanVleet the Raptors still have a talented roster and will certainly make some noise. The worrisome thing for Raptors fans is many other young teams in the east will have better records next season making it difficult for the Raptors to outshine these other teams. A perfect example is the Orlando Magic who have a superb young roster that will surprise many this upcoming season. Due to all of the talent in the east the Raptors will likely miss out on the playoffs this upcoming season and finish as the 12 seed in the east.
