Why This Memphis Grizzlies & Chicago Bulls Trade Makes Sense
Since Ja Morant got suspended for 25 games by the Memphis Grizzlies during the offseason, there are swirling trade rumors on places where the Grizzlies' centerpiece could land. However, a trade with the Chicago Bulls would best fit both teams. This scenario is based on a swap deal that would send Ja to the Bulls in exchange for Zach LaVine. The Bulls need playmaking at the point guard position due to the indefinite absence of Lonzo Ball because even though the Bulls have Alex Caruso and Coby White as their main point guards, they are more gritty defensive players, and Morant is an athletic scorer that can also give them a boost defensively. Additionally, since the Grizzlies traded during the offseason for Marcus Smart, this could be a sign that the Celtics are shifting towards seasoned vets rather than young players, and LaVine, who is entering his tenth season in the league, will provide another experienced player alongside Smart. LaVine also has the athletic skill set to double-up as a small forward and provide space for elite three-point shooters like Desmond Bane and Luke Kennard to get starting minutes at shooting guard. This meets the Grizzlies' need for a starting small forward since they traded Dillon Brooks to the Houston Rockets. On the Bulls' side, this provides stability and serves as the first step in a much-needed rebuild, whereas, for the Grizzlies, they can gain more experience and improve their playoff runs in the Western Conference.
