Why The Dallas Mavericks NEED TO KEEP Christian Wood
Christian Wood just completed his first season for the Mavs and is currently on the market, but it would be incredibly risky if they tried to trade him. Wood has provided strength to a weak Mavs frontcourt that finished bottom three in blocks the season before signing him, and he has proven himself as the Mavs' third-leading scorer after Luka and Kyrie. He is also the pick-and-roll option that the Mavs need to score in the post, and his three-point shooting serves his ability as a stretch-five. With the addition of Derrick Lively in the NBA Draft, starting these two players side-by-side could serve as one of the league’s dynamic frontcourt duos. The Mavs should seriously consider the option of allowing Wood to play a few more seasons with them in order to improve as a player before deciding to trade him to a stronger franchise because he could be the key that helps the Mavs make deeper playoff runs in the foreseeable future. Therefore, In today’s NBA where frontcourts are essential to winning championships, the Mavs should continue to build more frontcourt talent to complement Wood rather than trading him away immediately.
