Trade rumors put Knicks in front for Raptors’ OG Anunoby

New York, NY (PSF) — Once again, while we get closer to the NBA’s February 9 trade deadline, more rumors of possible trades are being reported. This time it’s the New York Knicks who seem to be making a move for a player, as the Knicks front office is rumored to be looking at the Toronto Raptor’s forward OG Anunoby.

With a tight race in the middle of the Eastern Conference and currently in the seventh seed with a 27-25 record, the Knicks are expected to make a move to compete in the standings. A big trade can help the Knicks move up to the sixth seed or higher to avoid the play-in tournament at the end of the season.

These proposed trades would shake up the NBA as Anunoby is looked at as a young star player while being only 25 years old and having major upside. The Raptors are currently sitting at the 12th seed, but it’s all up to their front office on what direction they want to head in, to either blow it up or trade some piece to try to make the play-in tournament.

Either way, the Raptor’s roster has some valuable pieces like Gary Trent Jr., Scottie Barnes, and Anunoby. A lot of young pieces that Toronto can use for a hefty asking price would be around two unprotected first-round picks and maybe some player swaps.

The Knicks have the picks and players they can use in a trade, like the heavily talked about forward Cam Reddish, who has recently been linked to many trades. Immanuel Quickley can also be a name thrown around that Knicks general manager Scott Perry can use to get a deal done.

However, the Knicks’ main problem stems from head coach Tom Thibodeau and his coaching style. Thibodeau has a very small rotation that explains why Reddish hasn’t played in months and why guard Derrick Rose has been given few minutes over the young pla

So, with players and picks at the ready, we can only wait to see what the Knicks will do to hopefully add players that will impact a postseason run. The same can be said for the Raptors, as no official word has been given on Anunoby’s availability, so for now, we wait until the trade deadline.
