Top Landing Spots for Chris Paul after being waived by the Suns

Phoenix, Arizona (PSF) - The Phoenix Suns waived Chris Paul, a 12-time All-Star and a member of the 75th Anniversary Team, even though he had a $15.8 million partial guarantee on his $30.8 million for next season. Paul is 38 years old and “plans to play several more years and is eager to help a team contend for a championship.”

The top landing spots for Paul, in my opinion, would be: New Orleans Pelicans, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, and Clippers.

The New Orleans Pelicans make the most sense to me due to his ties with that origination being the team that drafted him and what he can bring to a team that would (hopefully) have Zion, Brandon, and C.J. McCollum for a full season with Paul would make them contenders in the Western Conference like they were the first part of the season.

The Boston Celtics have already built a championship contender without an elite passer at the point guard position. Just imagine what could happen with Paul on that team, the Celtics would finally have a playmaker on the team and would be near perfect for Paul with the Celtics' offense.

The Los Angeles Lakers would be another team to look out for who are in search of having a point guard for next season amid D'Angelo Russell being on another team if they don’t resign him. Paul's ties to LeBron James are a big part of the equation and the Lakers need another offensive organizer.

The Los Angeles Clippers desperately need a point guard and Kawhi Leonard made it known to the team to grab one. They did scoop Russell Westbrook at the trade deadline in the buyout market. Paul brings what the Clippers have lacked at the point guard position: someone who can facilitate, has great IQ, and who can navigate staggered minutes. A reunion with the Clippers sounds like a match made in heaven with stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George there that are a point guard away from making noise in the playoffs.
