Todays Market in the NBA
New York, New York (PSF) - The offseason is the time to see how the market is in association with trade value, free agents signing to teams, and players resigning with their respective teams.
This offseason we have seen some contracts that either were good for teams or head scratchers such as:
Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics agreeing to an five- year $304 Million extension (which is the richest deal in NBA history)
Fred VanVleet and the Houston Rockets agreeing to an three-year $130 Million max deal along side the Rockets signing Dillion Brooks to an four-year $86 Million deal.
Lamelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets agreeing to an five-year $260 Million max extension.
Desmond Bane agreed to an five-year $207 Million max extension.
Anthony Edwards also reupped with the Minnesota Timberwolves on an five-year $260 Million max extension.
This came as an surprise with the Portland Trail Blazers and Jerami Grant agreed to a five-year $160 Million deal for the Forward to return to the team.
Including many more contract extensions that occurred during this offseason, but for now, these moves raise questions about the market value going forward. For example, the Boston Celtics have to think about if they will have to pay Jayson Tatum the same or more than they just paid Jaylen Brown.
The market will be interesting to pay attention to moving forward in the association.
