The Steal of the Draft?
Every year a set of rookies waits for their name to be called in the draft. Names get called, people cheer, and little by little it seems as if the draft room get smaller and the window to get drafted is starting to close. With the 23rd pick the Philadelphia 76ers selected David Roddy from Colorado state. Philadelphia had made this pick for the Memphis Grizzlies which was apart of the De’Anthony Melton trade that landed him in Philadelphia. At the time of this trade people thought that the Sixers organization had fleeced the Grizzlies and had given up next to nothing to receive Melton. But slowly those feelings started to fade… .In comes David Roddy, 21 years old standing 6 feet 5 inches and 225 pounds. People around the NCAA all where thinking the same thing. “Is this guy in the right sport?” the answer to that question is yes.
Averaging 19.5 points per game along with 7.5 rebounds. With his size and capability he is already drawing comparison to NBA legend Charles Barkley. His dominant size frame combined with his natural talent handling the basketball
This is a play-style that the Memphis Grizzlies have somewhat seen before. Former 2x NBA all-star Zach Randolph, who used his dominant build to attack the basket and be a brick wall on the defensive end.
