For the first half of the season, the Brooklyn Nets have been derailed due to a series of unfortunate events.
At the beginning of the season, he the season the NBA would be appalled with the news that Kyrie Irving would be unable to play home games due to the Vaccine Mandate set in New York. This later would lead to Kyrie Irving not being available at home or away games for the majority of the first half of the season. Later in the Kevin Durant would suffer from sprained MCL leaving him 6-8 weeks. Kevin Durant’s injury would be followed by drama with James Harden who would eventually be traded. The Nets would receive Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, and two future first-round picks. This new Nets would get off to a solid start with the new team and Nets fans would be excited for a completely healthy Nets team in the future.
A couple of weeks after the trade Ben Simmons has still not played in a game which was first due to conditioning and then reported to be a back injury but that news was brushed off by fans due to reports of Kevin Durant’s return and New York potentially lifting the mandate which would allow Kyrie to play home games. After receiving this news it gave fans a sigh of relief. Then Kyrie would drop 38 points defeating Milwaukee without any of his costars present leaving fans drooling with excitement for what was to come. As the fog would seem to rise Nets fans would receive another burden of bad news. New York would raise the mandate but still not allow Kyrie Irving to play home games. The basketball world was shocked by the news. Fans took to social media to voice their opinions and even Stephen A Smith the one person who seemed constantly shame Kyrie Irving would come and state the rules were not fair to Kyrie or basketball fans.
Kevin Durant has recently returned to the court dropping 30+ points in his first game back from injury. Nets fans have dealt a series of mixed emotions and events all leaving them to ponder about if the Nets will have what it takes to compete for a championship this season.
