The Dallas Mavericks Are Still Interested in Making a Trade to Land Clint Capela
Reports have come out this weekend that the Dallas Mavericks are still pushing to trade for Clint Capela. This has been an ongoing rumor for several weeks. It may also have some connection to a potential three-team deal that also involves Pascal Siakam going to Atlanta.
It appears Dallas wants to move Tim Hardaway Jr.’s contract along with a future pick to get Capela. However, Atlanta does not seem interested in that, as they want Josh Green involved in the trade as well.
Clint Capela, who averaged 12 points and 11 rebounds to go along with over one block per game last season, would be an ideal fit with Luka Doncic. Capela has always thrived when playing with elite playmaking guards. He had a lot of success in Houston with James Harden and Chris Paul, and he has been a high-quality center playing alongside Trae Young in Atlanta as well. He is one of the best lob catchers and finishers in the NBA, one of the best rebounders in the NBA, and a very good presence in the paint on defense as well. He instantly solves a lot of the issues that the Mavericks had last season.
It will be interesting to see if either side decides to budge and make this trade happen within the next few weeks of the off-season.
