“The Chosen Sons” Lebron James potential Family Team up
It’s no secret that LeBron James wants to play professional basketball with his son Bronny James as he publicly stated this multiple times in recent years. Bronny has become a breakout four-star recruit and is moving up on the ESPN Top 100 lists, sitting at 50 going into his senior year.
This summer, Bronny has shown major upside in his game, with significant improvements seen in his athleticism and offensive aggressiveness. He has a huge senior year ahead of him. Along with those skills, Bronny is a good on-ball defender and has shown signs of inheriting the signature LeBron James Block package. The sky is the limit for this young star.
The question on everyone’s mind is what’s next for Bronny after high school.
Bronny has received big D1 offers from Duke, Kentucky, and a personal invite from Jalen Rose on behalf of Michigan, to name a few. So the younger James has a lot of options ahead of him. But is there a real chance LeBron and Bronny will play together in the NBA? And if so, what team has the best chance to make this happen?
This summer, LeBron officially re-signed with the Lakers on a two-year, $97.1 million deal, with the second year being a player option. I believe James signed this deal with the intention to be flexible in the case Bronny gets drafted in 2024-25. This deal gives him a chance to see what team Bronny potentially gets drafted to and sign a deal there.
I personally believe the Lakers will push to acquire draft capital to get Bronny on the lakers. The move would not only sell tickets but would be an achievement no NBA player or franchise has done. But on a more realistic note, the lottery for LeBron James has begun and having a good pick to draft Bronny James almost guarantees you a year or more with LeBron. So I have no doubt in my mind that LeBron and Bronny will play in the NBA together. It’s just a matter of when and where.
Also, while today’s topic focused on Bronny teaming up with LeBron, he might not be the only son in Bron’s longevity plans. While shooing a new cover of Sports Illustrated with his sons Bronny and Bryce, LeBron had this to say about a potential family team-up.
“I’d definitely be looking at who got first-round picks in 2024, 2025, things of that nature; 2026, ’27. I pay attention to that type of stuff.”, said James.
Could we see LeBron Play with both of his sons before he retires? And if so, how does that affect his legacy?
