Hello and welcome, after yesterday’s loss against the New York Knicks I believe questions need to be asked as to what is going on with the celtics. Boston has just recently gone from the ECF in the bubble, to a Game 5 loss to Bklyn, to the 11th seed in a stacked East conference. The Celtics are slowing down and fans are probably wondering why. Jaylen Brown had recently taken the leap to all star status, and Jayson Tatum is an upcoming superstar right?

Well I don’t think it’s that clear anymore, if 2 all stars were all you needed the Cavs wouldn’t be sitting 6th in the east. Don’t get me wrong Garland and Allen have been fantastic but there not Tatum nor Brown. The wing tandem has been together for around 4 seasons with its ups and downs, but they’ve made some great strides to their game. But something is quite visibly wrong and quite honestly it’s in more than one spot. But most glaringly to me is it’s not really clear who’s team it is on every given night. Tatum has had these explosive games to where he looks unstoppable, similar to the end of the season last year with multiple 50 point games, and even 60 in a comeback against the wolves. But on the other hand Brown had been more consistent, given a similar 25+ output.  With that being said it’s easy to wonder who’s team it is.

But across other aspects of the game their offense along with their defense is lagging. They lack a dynamic playmaker creating only 23 assists a game putting them in the bottom bunch of the league. Without a willing passer (*That isn’t Marcus Smart), the offense stagnates between isolations for Tatum and Brown. Without an elite offense nor defense there is no way to contend for a championship.

And with the downhill trend for the Celtics’ success only time will tell what moves will need to be made or will be made in the future. Let me know if you agree.

The Celtics have a rematch with the New York Knicks Tomorrow at 7:30 on NBA TV if you’d like to see first hand.
